Hi all!

I am trying running MythTV with two capture cards. One analog (PVR-150) and one DVB (Twinhan CAB CI) card.

At first, I installed MythTV and the analog card and made it work together perfectly. Then I bought the DVB card, installed it and ran MythTV backend and frontend programs again.

My problem is that LiveTV doesn't really work. How to manage two TV-cards? Currently, I can watch DVB channels, but when try changing to an analog channel and pressing "Y" to change TV card, the screen becomes black!

Does anyone know how to solve this situation?

Is there any special things to do in mythtvsetup when running two capture cards? Any good HowTo regarding installing/setting up two capture cards?

How is it supposed to work?

Thanks in advance!

Best regards,
Martin

You need to run mythtv-setup and make sure you have both capture cards defined and an input connection setup for both of them. See the (North American biased but still useful) walk though here:

If you take good notes we can update the wiki page to include your locale.

The setup "instructions" are missing a bit.

For example:

Am I supposed to select V4L or MPEG2 if I have a PVR-150?

Then, after selecting that, am I supposed to go into the DVB card and select items under analog options?

If I do that, then do I also need to define input connections for the DVB card (yes), the DVB -> V4L "analog" options AND the PVR-150 as well?
Or just one or the other?

Does it make a difference?

I assumed that if I specified "analog" options that when I was on the DVB card I could just input (say channel 4) and it would "kick" over to the other tuner? Or do I really need to hit "Y" to change tuners?

Here's what I had to do (note that I'm not sure I set it up right)

Step 1, if you add a DVB card AFTER the PVR card, you need to delete all video cards and exit setup. Go BACK into the setup and re-add the DVB card FIRST.

Then assign the input and scan for channels.

THEN you can exit setup.
Go back into setup and add the analog card. Assign input (do NOT scan for channels, fetch from the lineup).

After doing that, I can actually hit "Y" and get over to the tuner on the PVR-150 card. But for some reason hitting Y to get back to the DVB card has some issues (I have to hit it a 2nd time usually to get it to work).

Note that I followed the wiki where it had me assign the "analog options" in the DVB card (but not for the PVR card itself).

I'm still trying diff. options to see what does what (until someone maybe posts something helpful).

From the BlackScreenWatchingTV wiki page linked to above:
Quote:
If you have a PVR card (Hauppauge PVR-150, PVR-250, PVR-350, PVR-500 or equivalent) select "MPEG-2 Encoder",

I don't know how to make it much clearer than that... :?

Thanks, it's just confusing when the software finds the PVR-150 automatically and sets it to V4L.

No, it doesn't set it to V4L. All it does it find the find first card (/dev/video0) and that is displays w/ the first option which is V4L.

I'm one of those dumb people that needs pictures and exact instructions sometimes.

I'm sure once I get used to doing this (makes me learn some Linux) it won't be too bad.
