All of a sudden my mythbox will not play/rip any audio cd.

It will seek the title/track info but when I go to play or rip, it locks up the frint end. frontend unfreezes when I eject the cd.

DVDs are playing fine with dvd device set to /dev/hdb

I tried both /dev/cdrom and /dev/hdb in music setup.. but did solve my problem

Any idea what is going on?

Did you install any packages recently?

No, there has been absolutely no changes or updates.

I have noticed that it works as long as it can grab cd info from freedb site.

If I insert an audio cd that it can't find info on ... playback/rip won't work from that point forward. the only way is to delete the cdserverrs and cddb cache and reboot the box.

Then it works until another unknown cd is found.
