Simon, you are my hero.

I almost gave up hope since I saw that ticket 3327 regarding "fix the mythweather plugin" was rejected as WONTFIX... (I already managed to fix mythweb...)
There was hope again when I read your post; however, I was not sure whether it will work for my setup (i.e. R5D1 instead R5E50)

I can confirm that your instructions also work for R5D1 !

Thanks, thanks, thanks! Since I am not great in "building from source" and/or "patching", I was desperately looking for a write-through, so you really made my day! :P

Greetz from Germany

Michael

Thanks for the how-to. I can confirm that it works on R5B7.

You just have to love this community.

Thanks again -

Allan

I can confirm that it does not work on ubuntu 7.04. It all looks good until I ran the make command towards the bottom. I am having trouble copying the terminal output to this post (using ssh into my myth box).

It ends with:

make: *** [main.o] Error 1

I'll re-run the make command when I get home and post the error details.
I've hopeful that mythweather will be operational again!
Thanks!

Nice writeup simonflood, worked a treat on my R5D1 + .20 backend. Then I simply copied libmythweather.so and the icons over to my frontends, rebooted and viola!

Much more accurate information being reported in MythWeather now. A good patch, worth the effort...

Noticed 1 thing with this. Patch works when i go through the menu, but using my jump point w/ key binding, for some reason it just sits at a blank screen (theme backround) and i am forced to reboot. I rolled back to the old libmythweather.so and the jump point worked again, but of course, mythWeather did not.

running R5E50

thanks for the work on this!! i use it every day

Jeez you guys!

Anyway now updated procedure to reflect availability of mythweather2.patch that removes need to hand massage patch file before applying patch.

As far as I am aware no code has been changed so if you've already been through the hoops no need to do so again!

HTH

I'm running R5D1 with ceil's v.20 updates.

The updated procedure worked fine and the screens look great!

Only on thing, I no longer have a listing for MythWeather in Mythweb.

So do we need to run both pieces of the script to fix mythweather?

I am running R5C7 andsince someone already posted that it works on R5B7, it should work for me too.

I'm not sure what you mean by "both pieces". I used simonflood's writeup (2nd to last post on the first page of this thread) and it worked fine on R5D1 + .20, and from other posts it appears to work on earlier versions as well. I backed up /usr/lib/mythtv/plugins/libmythweather.so just in case...

I see two posts with plenty of steps.
1 was posted with timestamp 1:23pm and the second was posted at 2:41

I assume by your 2nd to last on the first page, you mean the one at 2:41

TIA

The first post fixes Mythweb Weather and the second one fixes, the Weather from the MythTv Information menu.

Yep, the first was the "condensed" version, the 2nd the complete walkthrough that includes the new patch. Just use the 2nd one (2:41)

Hi,

First a thanks to simonflood for the weather fix on the frontend.

The webmythweather is still defective and tries to go to the msn path. Any hints?

Mike

Yep. "2.41" fixed up my mythweather as well.. I'm currently on R5C7.

One glitch .. that might just go away.. the weather map flashes between a few good frames of good map image and a "Map Unavailable" screen.

My MythWeb Weather is also "toast".. but I do have one frame of the weather Map. (ok, for the curious, it's one of the frames that I do get on mythweather.. of course, that would be strange if it was the missing frame!)

Thanks, simonflood, for working up the fix for us! :D

Yes and no.

Yes you need to run both "pieces" and no because they're not both fixing MythWeather - the first fixes MythWeb's weather module (it's not MythWeather!) and the second fixes MythWeather.
