Hi,

I have a mythtv frontend (and separate backend) setup and working. My problem is that the picture quality is "shaky" in vertical when I use mythtv for playback of live tv or recordings. If I use mplayer to watch a avi or something it is perfect but in mythtv internal player is the picture shaking in vertical direction which is quite disturbing. Even the OSD is shaking up and down. I have tried "use opengl for vertical sync" in mythtv setup and enabled that setting in nvidia-settings but it does not make any difference.

I use an Intel Core2 Duo E4400, 512 Mb RAM and a Nvidia Geforce 6200 on a 32" LCD samsung TV connected by VGA.

Any suggestion?

It may be an output resolution that your TV doesn't handle correctly. i.e. maybe it doesn't handle 1080i correctly, but does handle 720P. If you watch your X log (I forget the name, but it's the log for the X events) you'll see which modeline is in effect. I suspect that the GUI is running at one resolution, and another is running for playback.
In my case, I'm happier overall by outputting everything as 720P. I've mapped all TV playback and the GUI to run 720P.

Do you have Deinterlacing turned off or on?

It may be trying to display interlaced video in the wrong field order. Deinterlacing might help.
