I have recently updated my system to R5F1, this was a complete auto install, not an upgrade.

I have a problem with my system not seeing all the channels on my Hauppauge PVR-500, I can only see channels 2-13, whereas I should be able receive 14-78. I have used this PVR-500 for many months on my old R5E50 system (which I had to update the ivtv drivers before it would even recognize the card). I have connected the cable direct to my TV and all channels are definitely coming down the cable, it is not a problem at my provider end.

I cannot at this point rule out a faulty PVR-500 card, but I find it very suspicious that this fault only happened at the point I switched to R5F1.

<EDIT> I just put my old R5E50 hard drive back in my system, I can receive all channels on my PVR-500. This appears to only be a problem when I am running R5F1. Maybe I should try updating the ivtv drivers, perhaps to the one I updated to when I was using R5E50.

Has anyone else seen this problem?

BTW I have read the R5F1 Hints and Hazards and it appears there are some issues with the changes related to the updated ivtv drivers, but I cannot see anything which is related to this particular problem. There is mention in the Hints and Hazards of a scripts which you can run, is this something which would help me with this particular problem?

Quote:
5.3) With the new version of the ivtv drivers many settings which you used to be able to adjust with ivtvctl, must now be done using the v4l2-ctl utility. Run it with the --help option for a complete list of the command options. The /etc/init.d/set_ivtv_params script can be used to force normal defaults at startup for cards which come up with strange ones. It can also be customized for users who need nonstandard initialization. To enable it at boot time use:
Code:
update-rc.d set_ivtv_params defaults

I have tried deleting the capture cards and adding them back in. I have deleted the HD channel lineup on labs.zap2it in case it was interfering somehow (I have seen problems with R5F1 and having two lineups set at zap2it).

Note, I made sure that I only did the 'get listings from source' and did not do a channel scan in setup.

Thanks,

Kevin

Sounds like you picked the wrong frequency set in mythtv-setup.

Depending on your provider you want us-cable, or us-cable-hrc, or us-cable-irc, NOT us-bcast.

See this wiki page for more: http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=BlackScreenWatchingTV

Hi tjc,

setting the frequency table to 'us-cable' fixed it, so I guess the 'default' has changed from R5E50. (don't know why I didn't think of that :( ),

thanks for your help,

Kevin
