Hi!

This may have been discussed there before, but I didn't find anything at least with the search option...

I have the following problem: The permissions for my "My Book" external harddrive are not as I'd like them to be. I've tried to sort out where the umask for automount is decided in KnoppMyth, but with no luck so far, unfortunately.

Mount shows:

Quote:
/dev/sdb1 on /media/My Book type vfat (rw,noexec,nosuid,nodev,quiet,shortname=mixed,uid=100,gid=102,umask=077)

And I'd desperately needed umask=022 there. Where is this option decided? Any help would be appreciated!!!!

Version I'm running is:

KnoppMyth R5E50

does KnoppMyth use udev for automounting at all? Or how does this work?

You could specify the umask in /etc/fstab.

In that case, this may be helpful:

Thanks you. I actually already did that, but the minor problem is that if the external harddrive get's disconnected and plugged back, the device can be different (either sda1 or sdb1), which is a bit annoying and there fore needs constant editing of fstab.

Well, this is manageable so far, I guess, but it would be nice to get this working properly. Thanks for the help anyway!

Setting it up to mount via the volume label will help avoid the problem here. For example:
Code:
LABEL=backup  /backup  ext3  defaults  0  0
