I recently upgraded from R5C7 to R5F1. After fixing a few other issues, the one I have left is related to audio.

I was watching some recordings and I noticed that the sound was low. After fiddling with the volume, I realized the audio was coming out of my MythBox and not out of my TV.

Audio had been working perfectly fine in R5C7. I checked the audio cable connections. I even switched cables.

My next guess was that the default audio out port on the computer changed, but I tried plugging into the other available port, and it didn't work. I then tried plugging in external speakers to the port I had been using, and they did work. So the port did not change.

I tried searching the forum for information, but all I could come up with were people not getting audio at all.

The box is a Compaq Evo D500 Small Form Factor. (Specs available here: http://h18002.www1.hp.com/products/quic ... 6_div.HTML) I've been using the headphone jack on the front, as the sound out port on the back never seemed to work for me.

If someone can help point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Carl

IIRC the Compaq machines usually connect the internal speaker to the amplified output of their soundcards so you can hear sounds rather than usual PC beeps.

Oh, sorry. It's a PVR-250.

Hi,

I am assuming that all hardware is the same from R5C7 to R5F1? If true does the audio from some music files work? Try some streaming radio stations?

The 250 doesn't have audio out I don't believe, maybe tjc can confirm that feature.

I have an older Compaq and the internal speaker does give me sound and also the rear jack using a 150 or 350.

Maybe a tour through all the settings to ensure there isn't a check / no check somewhere?

So I just went back through to check it all.

When I turned the audio on the TV up very high, I started to hear the audio through the TV's speakers.

I went back into alsamixer. It turns out the volume out for the port I was using on the MythBox was set too low. I raised it, and all is back to normal.

Thanks for the nudge in the right direction.
