Nice, I like the "Reduced mythfrontend memory consumption by up to 75% depending on theme and resolution." part. Interesting.

"MythWeather

* Disabled by default in configure since it no longer works"

Yikes.

Does anyone know if a single disk install will be available soon?

A version of KnoppMyth that includes SchedulesDirect support is in testing, if that's what you're asking about.

I just did my first mythtv build from svn for the schedules direct upgrade. All went well, but I want to check to make sure I understand what is going on. Based on what I've read, I believe the follow to be true, but I would appreciate someone who is experienced with this double-checking my understanding:

1. When I execute "svn co http://svn.mythtv.org/svn/branches/rele ... xes/mythtv", I am getting the latest fixes for 0.20. If I executed this command after 0.20.2 was released on Friday, August 24th, then I am working with version 0.20.2.

2. Fixes are only migrated to this branch when there is a reasonable level of confidence that they work together. This is not true for the trunk, where there is a higher rate of change.

3. If 0.20.3 is released, it will be available on the same path and I can rebuild it using the same process I used for 0.20.2.

4. If I leave my 0.20.2 build on my local machine, is there a simple svn command I can execute to check out the deltas? I'm guessing if I do this and run the various make commands, the incremental build will take a lot less time then a full build.

Thanks!

Marc

1. Is this a question or a statement?
2. Correct.
3. True.
4. svn update

Cecil, thanks for the reply. The first item was meant to be an assertion of what I believe to be true, with a request that someone either confirm or correct my assertion. Kind of the long-way around to asking a question :-).

I'd just like to take a minute to remind folks that the 0.20.x releases are all more or less arbitrary. Mostly they seem to inspire a flurry of activity on the 0.20-fixes branch, both before and after the "release". The first is as people rush to get things in before the release, and the second to fix the the ill considered or poorly tested things they rushed in "at the last minute".

As a result my general advice on MythTV "releases" is wait a week or so (if possible) until the bug fixes settle out. The branch is only semi-stable until that happens.

Looks like there was an important fix recently:

I've committed the fix to trunk and -fixes. It will probably make it downstream to packages in the next week, this may not be the last SchedulesDirect related fix.

Not unsurprisingly, in the rush to get 0.20.2 released in plenty of time for the Zap2It close-down, one or two problems slipped past the attention of everyone involved. We don't normally backport features to the stable branch and especially not in such a short time frame. So I hope everyone can forgive these minor issue
