I'm not a savior. Just a man that tries his best... I'm testing the final build now. Testers will get it first before it gets the ok.

The wait for a well tested release is worth more then many hours of trouble shooting!! :)

Amen to that!

I would like to suggest everyone who downloads via Bittorrent to leave their clients seeding even longer than ettiquitte demands and longer than usual for those that already go the extra mile. I think the R5Fx relese will be a bit of a bandwidth feeding frenzy. This may be bigger than the usual mirrors and seeders can handle...

Not to be pushy.... But... Monday was my planned myth box rebuild day, even bought a new hard drive and some other upgrades to put in the machine at the same time. Are we on track for a release this weekend? :)

Thanks!!

If you're going to be rebuilding a myth box with a new HD, I would very strongly suggest installing R5F1 on it now, and installing the fixes from myth svn.

Many of us, myself included, are a little scared of trashing our boxen if we install from source. If you're getting a new HD that you just reformat in case of eff-up, it would be well worth the experience. Plus you don't have to worry about looking pushy.

Here's a tip: If you have the same type of new drive, ie PATA or SATA you can use gparted to transfer the entire KM install to the new drive. (google for details) You can then muck about to your heart's content, Upgrading, building from svn; whatever, no matter how bad you screw it up, just put the old drive back. I did this once transfering WinXP to a new, larger drive; if gparted can move XP it can move KM 10 times easier.

HAVE FUN!!!

It's Sunday afternoon... can we freak out yet? ;-)

Kidding... I still have several days of listings.

Posts like this, do nothing but tick me off? I see no humor it your post at all. I've kept the community update.

Do you know what I did Friday after work? I worked on the next release? Do you know what I did Saturday? Test, test, test, test. Kudos to the testers as well as they have been testing. The new release will be out before anyone runs out of listings. If you are that impatient, build from source or use another distro.

Your efforts really, really are appreciated, and rather than tick you off, it was meant to bring a smile to your face. The "can we freak out yet" is a very deliberate, well-intentioned take on the title of this very thread -- which you posted.

Maybe when you've had a chance to rest, you'll come back and see some humor.

Acctually, it wasn't really funny at all.

In restrospect, now cecil's only going to get ticked that I'm accusing him of being grumpy from lack of sleep.

I'll steer this in a new direction: need a hand with anything? Anything at all?

Thanks but no help is needed. I take my work seriously. I think I've stated time and again, give us the time needed and you'll be happy. I like jokes, I like to laugh. However, jokes about when the next release will be ready, aren't welcomed. There is only one outstanding item I'm aware of the moment. Time to tackle that and get a release to the testers.

I'd just like to say thank you to Cecil, Dale, and all the testers. I'm in IT professionally, and I have an idea just how much time is spent developing and testing. I only wish that my home life allowed me enough time to assist with the testing of KM. I know that I just don't have enough time to dedicate to it to provide any timely input. I'd also like to say that I've never had a problem with any of the KM releases - especially when following one of tjc's excellent 'Don't Panic' guides. That alone proves to me how much time and effort the contributors and testers put in.

Also, has anyone else noticed that their zap2it subscription has been extended (mine says it is good until 11/30/2007), and that they are still getting guide data from zap2it? My guide has been refreshed normally for the past two days. Maybe they've decided to give all of the users an extended period to get up to speed with a new version?

Anyway, this got too long winded. Thanks again to all who contribute their time and energy to this project. Your efforts are truly appreciated.

Allan

Yep I was just going to post that I have zap2it data thru the 15th currently. So it lives on, giving an extended deadline. Frankly, Cecil and friends will take the needed time to get things just right and not a second more or less. And I wouldn't want it any other way.
