Hello,
I have a question about restoring the default .lircrc file on my knoppmyth system. I have a HP 150 MCE with the silver remote and I had tried to attach a script for turning the monitor off to the power button. The tutorial said I must edit the .lircrc file in my home directory. Once I did this i lost all functionality of the remote. My keyboard works fine but the remote is dead. How can I restore the default settings of the remote?

Did you edit the file on a Windoze box? If so, try
Code:
dos2unix .lircrc

If not, remove whatever changes you made. Alternatively, you should be able to extract the file from your backup (/myth/backup/savedfilesXXX)

You can
Code:
cp -p /usr/local/share/knoppmyth/remotes/hauppauge/etc/lircrc-s.conf /home/mythtv/.mythtv/lircrc
chown mythtv:mythtv /home/mythtv/.mythtv/lircrc
(/home/mythtv/.lircrc is a symbolic link to /home/mythtv/.mythtv/lircrc)

Hey, first of all i would just like to say thank you so much for your help.
I tried what you suggested but it couldn't seem to find a file under that directory. The closest thing i could find was a folder callled /usr/local/share/knoppmyth/remotes/Hauppauge_Silver_remote_A415-HPG. Inside was 3 files. hardware.conf lircd.conf and lircrc. I used your code on the lircd.conf file and nothing happend.... I am getting really confused here. What am i doing? Are these the remote specific .lircrc files?

Nm, i figured it out. I had to just copy the lircrc file instead of the lircd.conf. Thank you so much for your help!

Worth noting that as a general solution you can just run:
Code:
lirc-reconfig.sh

which will recreate the files for you.
