Hello,

Is there a way to disable the "Prompt at end of recording" for particular shows or recording schedules? I would like to keep the prompt for most shows, but not have it prompt for all of the shows I record for the kids. They like to watch the same show over and over.

Thanks,

That's what I had figured. Just thought I'd check to see if I was missing some setting somewhere.

Oh well.

While restoring my system from a crash, I was going through the "Recorded" table and saw the "preserve" flag. I just set this on one of my shows to see what it did. I tried searching on this flag, but didn't find anything useful. What is the purpose of this flag? It sounds like it would fit my bill of saving the particular show. If so, how would you go about automatically setting this flag?

Is that for the auto expire feature?

It sounds like your goal is to ensure deletion of shows that are watched by the adults, but to not automatically delete the kids shows, because they like to watch them multiple times. If this is correct, another approach is as follows:

1. For adult shows, select the "record new and expire old" option for the series and set max episodes stored to something fairly large, like 10 or 15.

2. For the kids shows, do not select the "record new and expire old" option and set max episodes to 5.

Could you setup a UserJob to automatically transcode the Kids shows and dump them somewhere like /myth/video/kids so that the kids watch their shows through the mythVideo interface which doesn't let them delete stuff?

Note, I've never used UserJobs so I dont how it works in practice.
If the UserJob doesn't allow you the auto delete the original recording after copying it to a mythVideo area, you could use the settings Marc mentioned to "record new and expire old" and only keep 1 (maybe 2) episodes.
