Heres my situation:

I was successful in the auto upgrade portion of the install and was able to set up the machine to where I wanted it to be at after the first reboot (After CD install and setup dialogs). I rebooted the machine for the first time and now the machine reboots constantly at "Checking Nvidia Drivers". The video driver worked great after the CD install and doing the setup dialogs. I was even able to watch TV after the install. Its just after the reboot I have the issues. Should I do the following and try installing another Nvidia driver?

My video card is pretty recent and worked perfectly with R5E50. Please see my signature for hardware details.

Thanks,

FYI, my Nvida 6200 Video card is connected to a TV via S-Video.

Yeah, try booting to single user and forcing the driver install.

I forced the driver install and still no luck. Here is the command I used below:

Code:
install-nvidia-debian.sh 1.0-9755 -force

Any other ideas?

If the driver works after you force it, then you can try turning off the probing like this:
Code:
update-rc.d install-nvidia-debian remove

Let us know if that works and I'll add it to the hints...

I was able to bring up the machine by disabling renaming startx to startx.save during boot up.

Detailed steps:

Holding down shift key as Lilo message appears.
At the "lilo:" prompt:

Code:
Linux init=/bin/sh

* Log in
* Remount your hard drive as read/write:
Code:
mount -o remount,rw /

Rename startx to startx.save so X does not come up:
Code:
mv /usr/bin/startx /usr/bin/startx.save

Reboot...
At login prompt, log in as Root.
Rename startx.save to startx
Code:
mv /usr/bin/startx.save /usr/bin/startx

Login as Mythtv:
Code:
login

Username / Password are both "mythtv" (Without quotes)

Type:
Code:
startx

The normal fluxbox / frontend will launch automagically.

After opening up my case on my HTPC I found out that my fan on my Nvidia 6200 LE card failed. I ended putting in a Nivida 7200 GS card and everything comes up normal now.

The new video card was about $35 after shipping.
